A Cognitive assessment will look at assessing you or your child’s Intelligence Quotient (IQ) and look at relative strengths and areas for development and make recommendations for learning based on this. A cognitive assessment consists of:
Parent/individual interview
IQ assessment.
Functional/behavioural assessment as required
Feedback and report
A cognitive assessment can be highly useful and informative for caregivers or educational support persons in terms of highlighting the accomodations the individual may need in their education/home/workplace in order to maximise their learning potential.
Cognitive assessments can also be used as evidence of learning difficulty when applying for government funding or when applying for entry into an education setting.
Southside Psychology uses gold standard IQ tests including the Wechsler tests (WPPSI-IV, WISC V and WAIS IV) as well as the Leiter-3 (non verbal IQ assessment as required).
Our assessments are generally conducted in our Success clinic, however a home or school visit can be arranged if required for an additional travel fee.
